Steel Mezzanine Manufacturers

Strongbox Mezzanines are engineered and designed to meet AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards and can be designed to hold up to 300 pounds per square foot. They will meet any seismic zone requirement with deflection limits of L/360 over any span, which eliminates the sponginess that other mezzanines designed for L/300 or L/240 deflection limits have.

 

Support Columns: Minimum 4” x 4” square structural steel tubing and 10” x 10” x 5/8” baseplates, designed to meet AISC standards for vertical, lateral, and seismic loads. Columns are free-standing, not anchored to building walls, and are anchored to floors using 4” L x 5/8” wedge-type anchors minimum. Columns have top plates that are bolted to the underside of our support beams with a minimum of four ¾” thick bolts.

 

Framing Structure: Support beams are hot-rolled structural steel I-beams ranging in size from 4” to 24” depending on capacity requirements and spans between columns. Deflection limit is the length of the span over 360. Deck beams are 10 or 12-gauge roll-formed C-channel ranging in height from 4” to 24” depending on capacity requirements with deflection limits the same as support beams. Triple-bolt framing connections utilize ASTMA325M grade 5 bolts.

 

Stairs: Bolt-together structural steel stairs are fabricated to meet BOCA/UBC/IBC/ or OSHA requirements. Treads and risers are manufactured from 12-gauge flat steel or 1/8” thick diamond plate and are bolted to 10” structural steel stringers. Stair handrail is manufactured from 1 ½” structural tubing welded to the top of stringers and reinforced with stiffeners welded to the web of the stringers. Intermediate and top landings are provided when stairs run parallel to decking when space does not permit continuous runs,

 

Railing and Gates: Side or top mounted handrail manufactured from 14-gauge square tubing is designed to withstand 200 pound impacts from lateral and vertical forces. Vertical posts are 2” square and horizontal rails are 1 ½” square. Swing, slide, pivot, or lift-out gates are designed to meet all applicable codes.

 

Pallet Drops: Manufactured from 1/8” thick diamond plate with 2” lip and designed to mount to grating or corrugated deck underlayment.

 

Decking Options: 1” x 1/8” subway bar grating, 3/4'” plywood over corrugated decking, ¾” resindeck over corrugated decking, 1/8” thick diamond plate over corrugated decking, or ¼” diamond plate or flat steel mounted directly to support beams and deck beams. Tile or carpet also available to cover decking for modular office applications.

 

Installation: Performed by fully-insured crews located in continental United States. Erection shall be performed in accordance with instructions contained on installation drawings.

 

Warranty: 5-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship including labor and materials if damage or defects have occurred as a result of normal wear and tear. Strongbox Mezzanines will not be responsible for obtaining concrete slab testing, constructing footings, or securing building permits, which are the responsibility of the end-user. Professionally sealed drawings are available at an extra cost.
